This Year due to the spread of Covid the holidays in the United States are going to be celebrated different. We need to gather with our family safely to slow the spread of Covid-19.

Covid cases are rapidly going up, and the holiday season has just started. When we are able to see our family we need to take precautions to keep everyone safe from catching the virus.

The CDC said, “Gatherings during the upcoming holidays can be an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends. This holiday season, consider how your holiday plans can be modified to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to keep your friends, families, and communities healthy and safe,” (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).

The holidays are a great way to see and talk to your family members that you have not seen in a while, but this year family gathering are going to have to be different. This year we need to be creative in finding way to reconnect with our family members.

According to the CDC, “Celebrating virtually or with members of your own household poses the lowest risk for spread. People who do not currently live in your housing unit, such as college students who are returning home from school for the holidays, should be considered part of different households. In-person gatherings that bring together family members or friends from different households, including college students returning home, pose varying levels of risk,” (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).

Though celebrating the holidays virtually with family and friends is not ideal, it is the safest why to not catch the Coronavirus. Many health corporations have given some ideas of ways to celebrate without putting people in major risk for catching Coronavirus.

The Mayo Clinic Staff  said that, “If you or someone you live with or work with is at increased risk of severe illness with COVID-19, avoid in-person events with people outside of your household. If you or your loved ones aren’t able to attend an in-person gathering, you can still celebrate together virtually,” (Mayo Clinics).

Though it is hard to not be able to see your family for the holidays, especially during this difficult time we need to stay safe.

“Undoubtedly, the holidays will look different this year. But it is possible to celebrate safely, whether virtually or, in some cases, together in person,” (Mayo Clinic).
