On February 9, 2018, Regis Jesuit Girl’s Basketball made history this season. They scored their first 100 point game all season against Ponderosa. It was also the first 100 point game that Regis Jesuit Basketball has had since February 20, 2014.
The final score of their recent win was 100-28. Regis Jesuit scored a whopping 33 points in the first quarter while letting only 5 points be scored by the opposing team. In the 2nd and 3rd quarter, Regis Jesuit scored 47 points, while Ponderosa only scored 20. In the final quarter of the game, Regis Jesuit scored 20 points and Ponderosa scored only 3 points.
Freshman Avery Vansickle scored 24 points during this game with 3 assists and a steal making her the leading scorer in this game. Junior Fran Belibi also contributed to this exciting game with 22 points, 2 assists, and 9 rebounds, giving her the most rebounds of the match.
“I think we all did our part contributing to this big win. It wouldn’t have been possible if we hadn’t all done our part, just as we have been doing all season,” Vansickle remarks when asked about the game. “Our team has amazing chemistry and we are all so supportive of one another. I can’t wait to see how the basketball team will do the rest of the season, with these girls by my side.”
Regis Jesuit has been undefeated, with a clean record of 9-0, making them number 1 in the state of Colorado. Come and watch these girls continue to make history the rest of the season, and be sure to support them at their next game against Heritage on Friday, February 16th.
