Story by Michael Manoogian ’20
Regis Jesuit is in another state championship game. This will be their seventh championship game and could be their fifth state championship title! After losing to Monarch High School last year in the State Championship, they are hungry for this win!
How did we get here?
Going undefeated in the regular season (22-0) Regis Jesuit ranked first, only needed three wins to get to the State Championship game. They defeated Denver East, Resurrection Christian, and Chaparral. During the playoffs, Regis Jesuit only allowed two goals and scored twenty-four against their opponents. Now it is time to face the third ranked (20-2) Valor Christian Hockey team for the state title.
What advantage do we have against Valor Christian?
Defeating Valor in the regular season 2-1 gives us momentum going into the game.
Common Opponents: Regis Jesuit went undefeated this season but it is not the same for Valor Christian.
Valor Christian had two losses. One to Monarch on February 10 and the other to Regis Jesuit. On the other hand, Regis Jesuit defeated Monarch twice with their most recent 5-2 victory on February 9.
Overall, both of the teams have talent, skill, hustle and a desire to win. At the end of the day it will come down to who will put more effort in throughout the whole game.
Regis Jesuit will face Valor Christian on March 6, 2018 at 7:00 at the Pepsi Center.
