The basketball star Michael Jordan once said that “talent wins the games, but teamwork wins the championship”. This season, the Regis Jesuit freshman girls’ basketball team have been building unbreakable bonds with their coaches, as well with their fellow teammates. They learn new drills every day, and new skills that will help them in years to come. The freshman coach, Coach B told us that “seeing them come together as a team and be able to play as one unit has just been awesome”. Every evening at 5:30, they run onto the court with a growth mindset and a love for the girls surrounding them. No matter who they are and where they come from, these girls will be your number one cheerleader. We had a chance to do a magazine shoot of the young girls and take a close look at the friendships they have created while playing basketball. We got to hear from one of the bright young basketball players, Nina, and got to hear her perspective on the sport and all about her experience pf being on the team. “You have to put your all into it or else you’re not going to play well”. These girls have always been extremely resolute, intelligent, and loving. They’re basketball skills are incredible, as well as their communication skills, and their teamwork. Even whilst on the court, they have a cheerful outlook and a smile on their face. All of this is what makes Regis Jesuit High School so special. Even though the team is competing against the opposing players, the girls are ready to show them how the Regis Jesuit Raiders act. We are strong, we are powerful, we are one, we are Regis Jesuit. Because at the end of the day, “we are all in this together”.
