Part of the Jesuit mission is staying informed and taking care of others. With that we wanted to acknowledge the rollback of several Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies in companies. DEI initiatives ensure frequently marginalized communities have fair access to opportunities like jobs and education. It was implemented in the 1960s as part of anti-discrimination legislation along with acts for equal pay, the Anti-Age Discrimination Act, and several Civil Rights bills. Without these policies, a lot of companies are free to take advantage of employees based on discrimination. Companies including Target, Amazon, Walmart, and Meta have rolled back their DEI policies. We encourage you to read more about this and develop your own opinions. It might not seem like a “us” problem, but we all use these companies every day.

About this page:
RJ Media is implementing a new section that covers current events in the wider community around the world. The goal is to highlight topics that students may not get a chance to talk about anywhere else. ‘Living in the Moment’ gives you the chance to access information and formulate opinions. Some topics will be more interesting than others to you, and that is okay! Exploration and education are all about finding your passions. If you have anything you want to see more on this page, email postja26@student.regisjesuit.com.
