The varsity girls soccer team played the number 1 ranked team in the state, Castle View, for their senior night game on their home field. Senior, Brooke Metcalfe, scored the winning goal in the 1-0 shutout.
“The longer you play at Regis, it means more” Brooke said, speaking about what it meant to play her senior night game on their home field.
Before the game, Coach Wolf spoke to the girls about the importance of the game ahead of them.
“Do it for the seniors” he said, making everyone want to work harder and “give their all on the field.” The girls recall the amazing relationships that they have built through soccer at Regis.
“The community and chemistry we have with each other has been very helpful,” Jane Rumph said. The three captains have led their team to many victories and have held them up through the losses they have had this season.
Coach Wolf reflects on the leadership they have shown this season. “Having the seniors that we have has been an absolute blessing,” Coach Wolf said, adding that “the care that they have for everyone on the team has been outstanding.”
Kierra Spilborghs, a freshman on the team, spoke about how the seniors have helped to guide her through her freshman season. “Every single senior have been super welcoming, and they have helped me feel included in the team,” Kierra said. She also added that “they are super supportive and always cheer you on.” She thinks that their amazing example “will carry on to the rest of our years.”
Brooke Metcalfe and Riley Shea reflected on how influential soccer at Regis has been in their lives. “The three of us have done a pretty good job at creating a good environment for everybody on the team,” Brooke said. “I think that the team this year has been closer than it ever has.”
