During Wish Week, students at Regis Jesuit High School turned their campus into a place of celebration, competition and compassion, a weeklong fundraiser packed full of themed dress up days, schoolwide lunch activities, grid iron games, and a field day to wrap it up, all to make Kash’s dream of going on a Disney Cruise come true.
Kash has been in and out of hospitals his whole life, having had multiple surgeries before the age of 3, his one wish was to go on a Disney cruise, and Regis Jesuit worked hard to make that possible. Wish Week was an opportunity for students to show up not only for their school, but for a child in need.
To start off the week we had dress up days themed around Kash’s favorite things, such as superhero day, Disney day, and sleeping beauty day. The week also included the Grid Iron games, which are girls flag football games, which were made inclusive to all grades this year. We had our annual pep rally, which had to be moved outside this year due to Kash’s needs “Doing it outside was kind of a big challenge,” senior servant leadership member Madelyn Hannam said.
Friday afternoon after the pep rally, Regis celebrated the week with a field day on the green. Students had a blast enjoying multiple bouncy houses, spike ball, a volleyball court and countless other activities. There was Kona Ice and hot dogs for sale. The students also got to meet Kash and play games with him. It was a great wrap up to a whole week of fun. Overall, they ended up raising over $23,000 towards Kash’s wish.
Wish week was more than just dress up dates and fun, it showed that when Regis students want to help, they show up. As freshman Vivienne Dieterle said “It was great to support Kash and get him to have his dream”
