The Regis Jesuit boy’s lacrosse team is heading into the playoffs after a hard loss last year to the Valor Christian Eagles in the semifinals. With second year Coach Ross Moscatelli, the raiders hope for a better outcome than last time. This season the Raiders had an 11-6 record in the regular season with their biggest losses coming to Valor and Creek. They also and losses to Legend and Arapahoe both by one point. First-year student Will Cornell had a breakout first year, leading the team in assists per game with 1.2. He also averaged 1.1 goals per game helping Regis in some of their closest games this season. Senior captain Ben Stone, Senior captain Rocco Biviano, and Junior captain William Wilson lead the team. Ben Stone, a providence commit, is willing to be a threat anywhere on the field with twenty-four takeaways, thirty-three ground balls, and two goals this season, he even will take faceoffs with 44% face off percentage. Rocco has been an offensive weapon this year, leading the team with 1.9 goals a game and has been the senior leadership needed on the offensive side of the ball. William Wilson, an Air Force commit, has been a massive threat from midfield this season with 1.3 goals a game using his 6′ 4″ frame to his advantage to bully any defender that gets in his way. The Raiders finished their season off with a heartbreak loss to Cherry Creek on Wednesday the 14th. The seniors played in their last high school game and for some of them even ever. The rest of the team is going to play with a chip on their shoulders in every game next year in search of a state championship. Captain Ben Stone talked about, “getting redemption and showing the state who we are” as they have not won a state championship since 2018 but next year, they hope to change that.
