An Outlook of Hope for Youth Sports in Colorado
While Covid-19 cases are rapidly rising in Colorado many activities are being shut down as they are moved to level Red as of November 20 at 5pm. With new restrictions the youth sports and clubs of Colorado are being put into tough situations
While there is a lot of uncertainty, there are thoughts that the youth sports of Colorado may be among the few things permitted during this time.
Children’s Hospital of Colorado says “youth sports organizations are hopeful that they may be able to lead the way in restoring a sense of normalcy to everyday life.”
Children have been found less likely to catch COVID, and if it has been transmitted to a child symptoms tend to be minimal and less extreme than that of an adult or elderly. (Excluding those children with serious or minor health complications).
“Several studies suggest, but don’t prove, that children are less likely to become infected than adults and more likely to have only mild,” says Medical Express.
Because children are less likely to catch Covid-19, and show minimal symptoms, youth sports in Colorado are hopeful to have some return in the coming weeks. While there is an outlook of hope and look for improvements it is important to remember that Covid-19 is a serious illness and it has yet to slow down its spread, and that there are vast differences in spread depending on location.
“Each community may need to make adjustments to meet its unique needs and circumstances. Implementation should be guided by what is practical, acceptable, and tailored to the needs of each community,” The CDC said.
Most importantly children in sports along with coaches and parents are all hoping for a return to soothe nerves and aid the anxiety of the new, uncharted world.
“In situations like a pandemic it is very normal to feel anxious and powerless, and that is ok.” The WHO states.
