Covid-19 has created countless well-known problems, but a lesser-known heartbreak is the end to many college athletes careers.

Major sporting events like March Madness and the NCAA College World Series got canceled, leaving many seniors with no chance to play their sport competitively ever again and damaged their chances at making it in into professional leagues.

As a result of COVID shutdowns, college athletes should get one more year.

There have been so many great NBA athletes that got exposure to NBA teams through the March Madness tournament. If it wasn’t for March Madness, we never would have known about players like Stephen Curry, Kamba Walker, and more. This year’s seniors deserve a chance for similar exposure.

On top of this, many athletes take a lot of time to develop, with some waiting until their senior year to even get any playing time. That opportunity was stolen right out of their hands.

Some college athletes have put so much faith in to going pro in their sport, but losing a senior season puts their financial futures at risk.

Some say that It is too risky for the athletes, but this is no excuse. Major sports leagues like the NBA, NHL, and NFL have all found a way past the corona virus, and colleges are able to do this as well.

Many college athletes lost future professional prospects due to the COVID shutdown, and they deserve extra another year of eligibility to make up for that.

Although it may be hard to imagine, you could be put in this position at some point in your life. What would you want other people around you to do about it?
