Regis Jesuit Hockey Kicks Off the Season with the Teddy Bear Toss

The Teddy Bear Toss game is a Regis Jesuit ice hockey tradition that doubles as both a fan favorite and a charitable act, giving back to those in need. Last Friday, the hockey team put on a show for the home opener, beating Ralston Valley 4-1.

Each and every game is important to a competitive team, but Teddy Bear Toss night holds a special place in the community’s heart. After the first Raiders’ goal, fans bombard the ice with stuffed animals to be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Colorado.

Senior forward Ian Beck said that the Teddy Bear Toss is important because it builds culture. It’s especially significant for the younger guys to experience it during the first game to have a warm welcome, and it provides a heartwarming gift for the kids at the Children’s Hospital.

He also mentioned that this year is probably the closest he’s been with the team, and he is here to have fun, work hard, and enjoy a good time. He’s looking forward to winning state this year, which he believes the team can do.
