Lucy Filippini, Brenna Radey, and Mary Claire Watts are senior captains for varsity tennis. They are four year varsity athletes and have immersed themselves in the culture of the team. They have carried out traditions from their past years and are hoping to have them continued for future team members. These traditions include getting tie dye socks for regionals, decorating their cars, and kidnapping the underclassman for team bonding.
When It comes to being a leader on the team, there is a lot of pressure.
To keep the legacy of captains going, senior Mary Claire says “It takes a lot of positivity, commitment and dedication because there are a lot of underclassmen on the team, so setting a good example for them.”
This is good advice for future captains.
On May 1st the tennis team hosted regionals at Colorado Athletic club at Monaco. Here, they decorated cars and tie dye socks. The team cheered each other on by showing up to each other’s matches and supporting them.
“All of us are super close and we cheer each other on at games and matches,” Mary Claire adds.
The team really showed their bond at regionals, through win and loss this team is a tight knit community.
