On May 2nd the Ballroom Dance Class took their finals in front of classmates, teachers, and others. By the help of Mrs. Lynch it took 3 months for the students to look presentable and ready to dance for the public.
Mrs. Lynch stumbled upon dancing later in life through an extracurricular class and soon she said “fell in love with it.” She has not looked back since.
Mrs. Lynch took the responsibility of starting this class because she felt that the divisions were still very separate and said “Was tired of one division thinking they were better than the other.” Ballroom dance treats everyone the same while the main goal is to look after the person you are dancing with.
Mrs. Lynch doesn’t want the class to be stressful for others. She keeps it fun and lighthearted while giving everyone a chance to try something new. She loves to see her students progress through the semester and see where they end up on the last day. Mrs. Lynch’s said her favorite part of seeing her students progress is when “the dance becomes a conversation with one another.”
Adaora Onuorah, one of Mrs. Lynch’s students comments on how she joined Ballroom Dance and what it means to her. Adaora says “If I have picked an elective I have never tried before it could be really interesting.” While dancing can get confusing to do and people mess up a lot Adaora says she “Asks the teacher for help or I look at the other couples dancing around me for help.” Mrs. Lynch is very helpful with this while she says “I give a lot of visual” to people who need it the most.
Ballroom Dance takes focus and skill while going into it. Mrs. Lynch creates a fun environment for all students to experience and adapt to.
