ISIL, otherwise known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levan, was established on the 4th of January, 2014. Since then, they have expanded immensely, not only gaining land, but also money, supplies, and support for other terrorist networks around the world. The intention of this terrorist group is to institute Sharia law into all that they come in contact with. ISIL is the most funded terrorist network, with approximately 2 billon dollars in the bank and about 80 thousands fighters. ISIL has already beheaded two Americans and sent videos of the beheadings around the world. They have on multiple occasions said that they will be attacking Americans next. Though this group is terrifying and are a direct threat to the United States, many Americans do believe them to be threat.

Ryan Mohler, a junior at Regis Jesuit, said, “To the Americans living in America, I would say there is no threat at all. However, I find that Americans, such as the journalists who were beheaded, that reside in the Middle East, may be assaulted by ISIL”. In response to being asked about the thousands of people who hold American passports, “I find TSA’s security to be a sufficient barrier for now.”

For many Americans, the threat of ISIL is too distant to worry about. Lukas Rasmussen, a true patriot, believes that ISIL is, “not a direct threat to the U.S and its territories but is a direct threat to the U.S’ interests in the Middle East.”

Even with this threat growing, people such as Sam Berger, who is another Regis Jesuit student, says, ” I do not believe this terrorist organization is going to be a threat and I have full confidence that the federal government will handle this problem without me having to worry about it.” He says he believes this due to the fact that he has full faith in President Obama and his ability keep the country safe.

Despite the fact that Obama has promised safety to all Americans, people should be aware and more knowing about the various threats that ISIL has issued to the U.S from various parts around.
