The environment was hostile, the fans electric, the host team menacing, and the team in red and white was confident.  Last weekend in Fort Collins, Colorado the Regis Jesuit volleyball team marched into Rocky Mountain High School and came away with a trophy naming them Region 7 Champions. At 11:45 a.m, the Regis Jesuit and Liberty High teams lined up on their respective sides of the net to kick off their road to glory.

Regis Jesuit played a total of two games and won them both. Their first victory came against an outmatched Liberty High School in a 3-0 sweep. In the first game of this match the Raiders came back from a four point deficit to win, and set the tone for the rest of the match.

The second victory came against the host team and seventh ranked Rocky Mountain High School. The Raiders got off to a strong start taking the first two games, but faltered a little and lost the second two games. The Raiders returned to their bench and huddled around Coach Dunston. The girls came out of the huddle re-energized, and with a new swagger added to their already loaded arsenal. As soon as the first serve was away the domination began and the Regis Jesuit Raiders officially advanced to state.

Advancing past the first round will prove difficult as RJ is placed into pool II featuring second ranked Cherokee Trail and seventh ranked Cherry Creek. Regis Jesuit is currently ranked eleventh in the state and eagerly await their first game at 8 a.m. this weekend. The winner of this pool will advance to the semifinals to compete for a spot in the 5A state championship game.
