The dream. The dream of every high school athlete serious enough to continue playing in college is to sign to their school, something only hard work and passion can achieve.

This dream has become a reality for senior Quin Cotton.

Earlier today, Cotton signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the Antelopes at Grand Canyon University, a Division 1 school, after verbally committing in September.

“Being signed feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. It’s great not having any more uncertainty as to where I’m going to go to school, and, overall, it’s a huge relief,” Cotton said. “I’m looking forward to playing in a summer league in Oneonta, New York before heading to Grand Canyon for school and fall practices in August.”

It is a momentous day that has been long in the making.

Cotton began playing baseball at age five and fell in love with it. Since then, he’s played with many club teams, including the Slammers and the Rockies, and he began playing for the varsity team at Regis Jesuit his sophomore year.

“I have to thank my parents the most for getting me here,” Cotton said of his accomplishments. “What I’m really thankful for is their support. They came with me on every trip and watched me play all over the country.”

His parents must’ve known he was destined for success. Years of commitment have led to this day, to the very letter he signed this morning, and it is only the beginning. Cotton lives and breathes the sport of baseball, and it is guaranteed that he will continue his hard work at GCU.
