This week on Artist Of The Week; Junior Will Towle takes some time out of his day to discuss his love for music and his passion for playing the guitar.
Rj Media: When did you first realize that art ( music) was so important to you?

Will: I first realized music was so important to me when I saw how much it was able to kind of change my mood and my attitude and relieve my stress. Once I got better at playing I played as much as I could.

RJ Media: What are some of the challenges of being an artist in your field ?

Will: Some challenges for playing the guitar I guess would be just playing in front of others. I get very nervous every and sweaty and just freeze usually, but I think most musicians kind of feel that at one point. There is also sometimes people who have obnoxiously high expectations for me and they shout out at me what to play next and if I don’t do what they like it’s just a mess and I can’t have fun. Another challenge would probably be learning something new or stepping up my level so to speak, but that’s the kind of challenge I enjoy.

RJ Media: How old were you when you really started to feel passionate towards your gift of art? What was it that inspired you to go deeper into it?

Will: I think the beginning of 8th grade was where I started to truly love the guitar, because I finally started to sound somewhat decent and could play a thing or two. I think just seeing people play the guitar and have fun online and constantly watching my favorite band play live all the time online just kind of made me want to be like them and made me want to keep learning new things on the guitar.

RJ Media:  Do you feel that art is more than just a panting or a song, or More than just the outcome of your work?

Will: I think that art or music usually wants to explain something or send a message or tell a story. They want to make people think and dig deeper.

RJ Media:  Do you believe that art can help make the world better? Or yourself better? Why? Or why not?

Will: I don’t know about the whole world, but I do know it makes me or others better as I said earlier, because I think it relieves the issues or bad thoughts you might have or tough times you might have.

RJ Media: What is your best piece of art or project? Why do you feel that this project is your best? How long did it take you?

Will: I would say the absolute best piece of art or best thing for me is this fingerpicking song I came up with. It’s not finished, but I would say it’s the best because I’m composing something by myself and it’s something hard to do.

RJ Media What is your main goal as an artist? Why?

Will: My main goal as an artist would be just to play or compose to have fun and eventually make others have fun and enjoy themselves. I also think it is very important that a person just knows how to play an instrument.

RJ MediaWhat does art do for you? How does it make you feel?

Will: My music or art makes me feel great and puts me in a nice mindset. It helps me relieve stress and puts me in a good mood, and it makes me feel confident and passionate that I can do more with it.
