On Tuesday December 12TH, Regis Jesuit girls swim and dive competed in the bubble for their 3rd competition of the 2023 season. They won against Rock Canyon High School beating them 119-67. As of now, the team is undefeated. So far they’ve beat Heritage High School 95-91 on December 8th and Chaparral High School 131-52 on November 30th. In hopes to stay on their winning streak they compete Friday December 15th as well.
When interviewed, the girls explained how close the team is. And how their encouragement from each other and hard work keeps them on their A-game.
“My favorite thing about my team is that they’re like my sisters and they’re my best friends and we all work hard and have a lot of fun.” -Frances Sullivan ‘24.
Just from the sidelines, it’s easy to tell how much the girls value and support each other.
The stands were packed with family and friends and other RJ supporters there to watch the swimmers and divers compete.
The meet started out with the 200-Yard Medley Relay. The relay ended in success with their hard work and sportsmanship.
We then covered the 200-Yard Freestyle Race. Mental preparation was needed to compete in such a challenging event. Our girls are strong mentally and physically.
Next came the 200-Yard Individual Medley. Fewer swimmers signed up for this event because it takes so much stamina but the RJ girls crushed it.
Then it was the 50-Yard Freestyle which was a piece of cake for the girls as they were able to rack up many points and steal the win.
After the swimmers’ hard work, it was time to head across the pool for the 1-Meter Diving. The divers finished and did an amazing job. The final score was 9-7.85 with Regis in the win.
Good luck on the rest of the season, girls. Your Regis Jesuit community is cheering you on!
