The preparation before a game is as important as playing the game itself. Being fully focused and ready is key to giving out your full emotions and physical abilities on the court.
On December 12th both girls and boys varsity teams played against our rival school, Valor Christian High School. I, Miranda Ramirez, was able to meet up with seniors on the team to share their routine and unique pre-game warmups. Players shared their physical and mental practices in order to prepare for a game. From food and music to specific stretches, players prioritize their time before a game in order to be able to give out their best performance in the court.
After the interviews, at 5:30pm Varsity girls started their game against Valor. Each player had a great night. Hana Belibi being the highlight of the night broke her career record scoring 35 points! Taking the win Regis scored 78 to 72 against Valor.
Later that night, at 7:00pm, Varsity Boys went against Valor as well. Damarius Taylor scored 26 points, with 3 incredible back to back three-pointers during the 3rd quarter! All players gave their best in the court. Loosing by only 6 points Regis scored 61-67 against Valor.
Both teams had great games that night. The competitiveness, energy, and entertainment was shown with the audience in the stands and players in the court. All these players demonstrate commitment, passion, and focus to their sport. Taking wins and sometimes losses they make sure to give their best efforts every single game. Their preparation and their actual performances is what makes them great team players that our community loves!
