Junior Abby Frei ’25 crushed the pole-vaulting school record that was previously set at nine feet nine inches. Abby Frei ‘25 currently holds the school record at ten feet three inches after an incredible vault on May 11th, 2024, at the State Qualifying Meet.
Abby Frei ’25 broke the record of nine feet nine inches on April 11th, 2024, with a vault of ten feet. A month later, on May 10th, 2024, Abby broke her own record of ten feet with a vault of ten feet two inches. Just twenty-four hours after that on May 11th, 2024, Abby Frei ’25 broke the record another time with the standing school record of ten feet three inches.
After Abby broke the original record, she credits wisdom given to her by her coach, Jarid Cook, “Before every vault he gives me one thing to focus on, so I’m not thinking of a hundred things at once.”
As Abby Frei ’25 continues to break records and succeed she reminds herself in the tough times that “It is just for fun and not a big deal.”
As the track and field season is wrapping up, at this rate, Abby’s record won’t last for long as the hardworking, committed, and talented junior will be back next year for her Senior year! Frei ’25 said, “I can’t wait for next year especially with my best friends by my side.” Stay tuned for all the amazing things Abby Frei ’25 will continue to do!
