Submersed

by Maddie Merritt ’16

Drifting.
Embracing the flood of water,
Enveloping the body in an arctic orbit.
The icy water glides across the frozen skin. Gentile and glassy.
Time fades away,
Snared by the unrequited love of the sea.
The vitreous waters shield the unmoving body, Breathlessly floating.
Virescent eyes flutter,
Steadily gazing into the depths of the azure water. Before long,
The jade eyes are met with the empyrean sky.
The resonance of peace penetrating into the bloodstream. One colossal breath,
And the orbs plunge deep into the sublime water.
Once again,
Drifting.
