On Friday April 27th, Ed Sheeran released his new video to his hit song “Happier.” This song is from his fourth album, entitled “Divide”, which was released in March of 2017. In the first week after the release, the album went Double Platinum and debuted at number one in the United States. The album was included in Billboard’s Top 200 Albums for more than 60 consecutive weeks. Happier appears as the 7th track on the album and is one of the most popular tracks among Regis Jesuit Students. Here is what some RJ students have to say about the video:
- “Overall I liked the video and I thought it was cute. I didn’t like that the girl was tied by a ribbon to the guys though, it seemed a bit like it was adding to the patriarchal idea that women are property.” -Madison Hoff ’20
- “It was so heartbreaking. It was an interesting perspective seeing the puppets and balloons.” -Sofia Casillas ’20
- “It’s so adorably sad. It made me cry a lot.” -Emma Fantz ’20
- “I’m not a big fan of Ed Sheeran but I thought this music video was very interesting to watch.” -Hayley Cook ’20
- “Ed Sheeran’s music video is genius.” -Blake Mann ’20
