Regis Jesuit history will be made when the library at RJHS is remade.
“Libraries when people think of them they think of books, but really another way to look at them is that they’ve always been about education and technology. Books were once the only technology,” Mr. Bruce Raymond, head of the Boy’s Division Library, said.

The remodeling of the library is a few years off, however it will certainly happen. The time frame for this project is unknown as of right now. A final design and plan of the remodel is set for December 2014.

“There is not a plan yet, I need to emphasize that. The only plan right now is that something is going to happen,” said Raymond.

The library is not only looking for new furniture but also to restructure the whole space. “We’ve also looked at CU Boulder as a real model but we’re of course not a college library,” says Raymond.

Raymond is currently researching useful ways to utilize the library’s space.

“It’s not the space that is important, but what’s really important is. We want to make a space really service the need of our students, places to study, places to get things done, places that we can hopefully design in a way that meets future needs, that we may not even be completely aware of yet,” he said.

In order to maximize the learning opportunities for the students, the librarians are following their mission statement.

“We’ve kept it very flexible because meetings happen in here and stuff like that, and it depends on whether that is going to be needed, because in a sense that’ll decide the type of furniture,” says Raymond.

The way the librarians picture the library is to be perfect for all of the things to come.
