Pope Watch: Mass remembering the deceased Cardinals and Bishops

On November 3, 2015 at St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis held a mass celebrating the lives of all the cardinals and bishops who have died. His message was about the importance of serving others. The Pope had people wondering that if we are not being people with and for others, then what are we living for?

Pope Francis believes that God wants us to let go of ourselves and be truly be devoted to others. He explains, “Whoever serves and gives, seems like a failure in the eyes of the world. In reality, it is exactly in giving their life that they find it,”

Throughout the mass, Francis kept referencing Jesus and how he devoted his life to us. He suggests that we should strive to live life like Jesus did; being selfless and loving towards others. These are some characteristics Pope Francis believes that we should illustrate in our daily lives.

Pope Francis also talks about how Jesus came to serve and God sent him out of his love and dedication to us. He explains our relationship with Jesus by saying, “Truly a concrete love, so concrete that he took our death upon himself…This is the abasement that the Son of God underwent: bending down to us as a servant to assume everything that is ours, opening wide for us the doors of life.”

Jesus came and saved us from death by dying on the cross. Pope Francis explained how death can be a scary and dark thing but you have to face it like Jesus did with open arms and love for the Lord.
