Regis Jesuit High School Joins the Charge in Support of No Shave November

In 2007, Chicago native Matt Hill lost his life to colon cancer. In his honor, his oldest daughter Rebecca created a web based non-profit charity called “No Shave November”.

In an interview, Matt’s wife Christine Hill, said that, “A lot of cancer patients undergo chemo[therapy] and lose hair, so we grow out our hair for those that are losing it.”

In response to this, Regis Jesuit is participating in No Shave November.

“[Our goal is] to promote mens’ health awareness and to heighten our understanding of what it is, and to help us understand what we can be diagnosed with later on [in life],” says William Towle, a senior leading the charge in support of No Shave November at Regis Jesuit. “We also hope for people [to gain] an understand[ing] on what others are going through right now.”

William is not the only one supporting No Shave November at Regis Jesuit High School. “…around thirty people are participating. It’s the most we’ve had since my freshman year [at Regis],” says Towle.

The money that would have been spent shaving and grooming facial hair is instead donated in support of men’s health. Proceeds raised at Regis this year are being used to support the same cause.

If you are interested in joining No Shave November there are meetings during the week, and William Towle can also be contacted at TowleWi@Student.RegisJesuit.com.
