Today during homeroom , the energy was high as Regis Jesuit hosts its second official Pep Rally of the year. This time, the focus was on Special Olympics, an organization that can improve the lives of special needs kids through athletics. As of right now they have raised over 8,000 dollars from the “Dance Marathon” to support Special Olympics Colorado, and they are looking forward to raise more.

Ryan Vottiero, one of the many leaders for Special Olympics, comments, “Originally I thought it would be a good way to get service hours to be completely honest, but I came to realize that it was so much more…I do it because it is fun and because I have grown to love all of these good people.”

Regis Jesuit encourages students to support Special Olympics because it is so much more than just fulfilling your personal requirements. Once you join, you become part of a team, a family, and a friendship.

“I have learned to be accepting to everybody and I have also learned that everybody has something that they can bring to the table” he added.

He sees all of these great kids and comes to acknowledge that hard work truly pays off. All of their dedication and commitment has taught him that hard work does pay off, and he looks forward to applying this knowledge to the things he hopes to accomplish in the future.

Everyone is unique and special in their own way. Special Olympics allows kids to exploit these hidden talents and special qualities that everyone has.
