Want a new favorite artist but don’t know where to start? It’s easy!
The internet is loaded with websites and tools to find new music. One such website is Bandcamp, a music community website where artists can put their music on for free and sell it to the listeners directly. Spotify and other streaming services are notorious for giving bad returns to their artists. Generally, only the top artists see a large profit. Bandcamp works around this by providing an easy platform for artists to post their music.
If you’re looking for a place to find your new favorite indie band or off-brand rapper, Bandcamp is the place for you. Some of my notable artists/bands that I have found on Bandcamp include Quok, Philanthrope, K.A.A.N., Thelonious Coltrane, and Hayley Heynderickx.
Another way to find new artists or music is by using the songs/artists that you already know and love! One of my favorite artists, called H.E.R., is a fantastic singer. Featured on many tracks, I discovered her on Daniel Caesar’s new album.
Overall, the internet is bursting with new artists. And it may seem daunting to burst that bubble, but once you step inside, you’ll be amazed by how easy it is.
