On April 3, 2018, Regis Jesuit sophomore boys played at home against Castleview. Boys division coaches Jim Mann and Nelson Mitchell supported and guided their players from the dugout. The athletes strive to reach the top by the end of the season. Although the team isn’t fairing fantastically with a 6-8 win-loss ratio in the 5A/4A Continental League, they have four games left in the season to pull ahead.
Michael Andersen ’20 stands in front of the dugout, as he is next up to bat. Michael thinks, “My swing is okay, but there are always things to improve upon”. Weighing in at 107 lbs, it’s important to remember that it is about the size of the fight in the dog, and not the size of the dog in the fight.
Michael Andersen ’20 lunges forward to catch the incoming ball while Michael Preiss ’20 runs behind him to ensure the ball is caught. Michael Preiss ’20 says, “I always have to be prepared to catch the ball if something goes wrong.”
Luke Frederick ’20 recuperates during the third inning. As his eleventh year playing in outfield, he finds it important to “Pay attention to the game even on the bench and be aware of your surroundings.”
