The Future Stars of Hockey

Junior Alec Mingle is one of the younger players on the varsity hockey team at Regis Jesuit, but he is a force to be reckoned with. Alec was always the younger kids in his grade but for sports teams he was one of the older ones playing. “I was not always the oldest or biggest in hockey but I almost always had more experience and skill among the players on my team and teams we played against, I knew what to do and what to expect player from opposing teams would do. ” Alec said.

One of the biggest tournaments Alec went to when he was younger was called State Wars. State Wars is a hockey tournament where players on a team representing their state as they play against other states and a few countries where players play against others the same age. “The players on our team had all played together so we were all very good friends,” Alec said. Alec was the defender for the Colorado 1998 State Wars team, and he was one of the most offensive defense men in the entire tournament. Colorado has always been one of the best teams in State Wars history with one of the highest medal counts out of all the other states.

After a few years the players on the Colorado State Wars teams stopped going to the tournament and for some of the players they never thought about what State Wars proved about their skill, State Wars weeded out the strongest players of their age showing who will be the best in the future. ” The kids from State Wars went on to play Tier One Hockey, Junior League hockey, and or Varsity Hockey for their high schools. ” Alec said. These players have been at the top level of play through out their entire life and if they continue to play at this level they could be some of the best players in the NHL.
