Best New Music- JME
Grime, a genre that has yet to take over the U.S. but is on its way. With all of the major musical acts to come out of the UK, British Hip-Hop has yet to make a big impact here. Jamie Adenuga, also know as JME, is primed to be the first big english hit.
His latest album, “Integrity>,” is a fresh mix of dark and gloomy rap, with an incredible example of lyrical intelligence. The U.S. rap scene has started to become over saturated with similar beats and similar artists. Grime is a new form of rap with beats you would never think someone could rap so easily over, and is the kind of music would dream of seeing live.
With “Integrity>,” JME has a 16 track journey that gets better after every song. Each song, let’s him run wild lyrically, just listen to ‘Man Don’t Care,” and you will understand. Every line is delivered effortlessly and smoothly, and really shows his capabilities.
For being 30 years old, JME sounds more youthful than most newcomers today, and yet still holds the maturity you would expect from an experienced MC.
I can’t say much more besides the fact that JME is easily the best Grime rapper today, and maybe even one of he best rappers working right now.
