Providing Warmth For Those In Need

“Especially around the holiday season, I feel inclined to participate in this event. Everyone needs help, and it comes in different form for everyone. For those who are in need of coats and staying warm this winter, it is important for the community to come together and help those in need,” said senior Ethan FitzRandolph.

Regis Jesuit is built on caring for and helping others and that’s exactly what the coat drive run by the Environmental Club accomplishes. The drive that started in October and runs through the end of November hopes to bring warmth to families in need. All students need to do to make a difference is drop off a coat of any kind to one of the designated bins in Tradition Hall. The coats will be washed and then given to someone in need.

“I think everyone has coats they don’t wear anymore that just sit in their closets, and this is a great way to get rid of them and help out those around us,” says sophomore Dean Maloney.

Both Maloney and FitzRandolph expressed how lucky Regis Jesuit is to have coats as the weather turns bad and how there are so many people out there who aren’t as fortunate. The two advocated that all students at Regis care for the thousands of homeless people in the Denver area that will need the extra warmth in these coming months. The two talked about how even the smallest gift could make a huge difference for someone this holiday season. As the month of November draws to a close it’s time for Regis Jesuit to step up and bring in as many coats possible in this final week.

For Ethan FitzRandolph it’s all about realizing how fortunate he is and paying it forward.

“Here at Regis, we are blessed and fortunate enough to have many clothes and coats, and it is the least we can do give up one of them for a family in need,” FitzRandolph said.
