The fire is lit, the Christmas music plays, lights bring color to the home and laughter fills the room. The anticipation of Christmas brings joy and love. Christmas Eve is the day families and loved ones come together and wait for the upcoming morning. “Christmas Eve is so much fun because it is such a build up,” said Mia Costa Regis ‘19. “My favorite part is getting to open one present and spending time with my family.”

Christmas Eve not only brings families together but also brings new traditions to the home. Lauren Winston Regis ‘19 says, “My dad comes over to my mom’s house for dinner. We always have a roast along with rolls with mashed potatoes. We then open one gift, it is always pajamas it has never been anything else, and then we all watch elf together.” Each family has their own traditions that is unique to their family. Traditions always have a special story behind them and families and loved ones hold them close.

Each family is unique and different. Traditions bring them together, “We go to my grandma’s house on Christmas Eve because it’s where we exchange our gifts with her and get to see our family each time, it brings us together,” said Katherine Lemkau. Christmas Eve is a perfect day to spend with the people you love doing the things you love.
