Bill Hanzlik a former basketball player for the Denver Nuggets and Analyst for the Denver Nuggets on the Altitude Network. Isn’t just a star on the court but also a star in his community.

Hanzlik a Notre Dame graduate and also a former Nuggets player, is a fan favorite and also also the co founder of the youth basketball organization Gold Crown.

Hanzlik and his co founding partner just wanted “to give something back to the community of Denver.”

“I believe that kids should have a place to go after school, and maybe even play some basketball on the weekends,” Hanzlik said.

Gold Crown is a basketball organization for young basketball players, focused and devoted to creating a better community for Denver kids.

Hanzlik is also an active member in several charitable organizations around Denver. He not only works as a pubic figure as a analyst for the Denver, Nuggets but he is also actively trying to make Denver a better place. Bill’s involvements are varied ranging from his active involvement in Gold Crown to Children’s hospital. He is a true man for others who says his goals surround helping around in his community.

“I love it, “Hanzlik says. “I love helping others because no matter what you do or what you think you are helping somebody else.”

Bill is good example of a man for others which here at Regis Jesuit High school we strive to be.

Bill says that Notre Dame changed his outlook on life, and how he was going to treat his community in the future.

“Does the school make you a better person or do you make the school a better place?” He says about school.

This philosophy is about how one individual can make a difference, what the influence is on a greater scale, and who is influenced by the surroundings.

For Hanzlik, it’s all about giving back, and making a difference in his community. What he learned while attending Notre Dame outlined the rest of his life. The former professional basketball player is all about making a positive difference, even if it is just a little deed. In his college career the school shaped him into the positive, knowledgeable, giving community figure, while he brought the school added basketball fans, recruits, and a player who went to the NBA.

The Denver Nuggets did not only have a star on the court but in the community as well. He always felt that is was his priority to make the fans happy, especially the younger fans. He always made it a priority to go above and beyond for the younger fans. He would sign autographs and go out of his way to talk to them.

This star was also all about his performance on the court. Hanzlik walks us through his most memorable moment as a Nugget.

” We made it to the Western Conference Finals but we were beat by the Los Angeles Lakers, we had a lot of fun and we won a lot of games that year was a special year,” he recalls.

This NBA star lived a moment that we all dream of living. Even on the court he was all about what was good for his team.

Hanzlik also gave advice on how young kids could accomplish their dreams of playing at the next level of any sports,”You have to work at your skill or your trade no matter what you do. A lot of hard work, sometimes you are going to have failure so that you can succeed at a higher level. So don’t shy away when things don’t go right for you, that is a life lesson too. You have to be good but sometimes you have to be a little lucky too.”

This is a big idea because it shows how people like us should always follow our dreams no matter what. He even gives advice for how younger players should be and should act. This philosophy is carrying on the legacy he made for himself.

Hanzlik also has what could be considered a dream job for any basketball fan, including me, he says, “I love being a Pre and Post Game Analyst for the Nuggets!” Bill speaks specifically about the Denver Nuggets, “I like this Nuggets team a lot, they have a lot of good young talent that is getting better.”
At the beginning of the season the Nuggets were only winning 33% at the time but in the last 15 games they are at a 50% win percentage according to Hanzlik.

Hanzlik has this to say about you the Nuggets record,
“Their record will be increasing because they are not getting blown out of games. They are in every game. This is a good thing because they need experience, that you can’t get unless you just play.”
Even as an announcer for the Nuggets Bill exemplifies what we strive to be here at Regis Jesuit High school, a man for others.

Hanzlik is not only a man for others on the court but also in the Denver community. He has strived for this and continues to be a great example for others to follow.
