Reflections from Tijuana

A group of students chose to take a class called social documentary, with this came a trip to Tijuana where the students were able to see the border and witness immigration first hand. They made a documentary about their time there. They shared other peoples stories and presented the documentaries in front of friends and families. The students in Tijuana served this community and had only one goal, to get peoples stories out as an act of selflessness.

Many of the documentaries shared the stories of people who have been victims of the immigration system. One lady shared the story about how she moved to America when she was younger and got deported after she had a child. She hasn’t seen her daughter in 14 years.
Each person played a part in filming a documentary, while they were there they also did gardening work at the border.
At this event, the students shared their experience and said a good word about the other students before sharing their documentaries with the audience. While some of the documentaries were heartbreaking, everyone had a good laugh at some of the other documentaries.
