I sat down with sophomore Cat Lynott, an aspiring artist, to talk about her passion for art.

How long have you been taking art up as a hobby?

I’ve been doing art since I was really young because my mom was an artist. I wanted to be like her so probably since around 2nd grade.

What type of art is your favorite?

My favorite type of art is sketching and pencil drawings.

How many art shows have you done in the past?

I’ve done around two.

What inspires you most?

Definitely emotion is something that comes out a lot in my art. Meaning is something very important to the art community because without meaning art is worthless.

Why art?

It’s something that I’ve been able to do from a younger age so I figured I would just keep working with it. Something I can enjoy really easily.

How many hours a week do you spend painting/drawing etc.?

On a good week I would say I spend around 7 hours and if I don’t have free time I do take art classes outside of school and those are around 3 hours.
