Two Friends. Two 4Runners. One goal.

Competition? Or simply just for fun and for the love of the vehicle?

Corey Peck’17 and Andrew Cohlmia’17, both share a love for their Toyota 4Runner, and have been modifying their vehicles as soon as they laid hands on it.

Corey Peck, owner of a 2005 Black SR5 has a special love for his car, and respect for Andrew and his vehicle.

“I don’t like to think of the two cars as better than or worse than one other. I naturally prefer my car over Andrews, but that is because I have made it my own,” he says.

“All the things I’ve added or changed to my car, each thing makes the car more special to myself. I tend to think of the additions and modifications as what differentiate my car from other cars, such as Andrews,” says Corey Peck.

However, Andrew Cohlmia, owner of a 2007 black limited has a competitive outlook and likes to be known to drive a ‘beastly’ car.
“According to the amount of work I have put into my car, and the amount of money I have put into it, I want to humbly say that I have the ‘winner,'” Andrew says.

“In terms of  ‘bigger’ and ‘badder’, I think mine takes the cake.  Not to mention all my friends refer to my car as ‘the beast’, or ‘the monster truck’. This makes me feel awesome and shows me that people actually appreciate the custom work that I have done to My 4Runner.”

4Runners seem to be very popular lately at Regis Jesuit, and all around. Both Corey and Andrew have an explanation involving the possible reasons in this growth of the 4Runner popularity.

Corey Peck explains,” When it comes to the popularity of 4Runners, I believe what contributes to that is the potential each 4Runner has.

There are many people in the world who have put a lot of time and money into making their own 4Runner bigger and better,” Corey says,” And that is where I think the appeal of the car originates from.”

“Personally it has been the given potential of 4Runners that sparked my interest in them initially, and I’m sure others would say the same.”

Meanwhile, Andrew believes that the 4Runner is the one of the most popular cars at Regis because,” It is hands down the most well rounded and versatile and utility vehicle on the road, and it can do about anything you throw at it,” he says.

It is also a popular car due to its sheer safety, and it is also a great looking vehicle.”

Even though Andrew may be slightly more competitive with his vehicles,” Because it always feels good knowing that you drive the “dirtier” or “badder” car on the road.”

While Corey likes to personalize his car more to himself rather than the competitiveness.

At the end of the day, everyone is still friends and everyone has their own opinion. However, both Corey and Andrew share a love for their car and have much respect for each other and their vehicle.

“I don’t feel as though I attempt to outdo anyone,” he says. “Andrew may say different, but for me, all I do for my car isn’t for the appeal of others. He may have a sense of competitiveness between us, but I tend to avoid that aspect of it.”
