AN EARLY SEASON ON THE MOUNTAIN

This year unlike many others, Colorado endeavors an early winter and an early season atop the mountains. Here at Regis Jesuit, the free ride club led by Ben Poletti a Regis enthusiast of free ride, begin the preparation for this long season ahead of them.

“Inspecting gear and setting up transportation is crucial for a great year in the club,” Says Ben. And this year, it is expected to be a popular season on the slopes and safety is most definitely needed for a good season in the Rockies.

Yet ski and snowboard is not an easy hobby or leisure, “It’s a very demanding sport” Says Ben, and takes skill and practice not for the faint of heart. According to the Ski injury prevention center (SIPC), snowboarders alone account for nearly 35-45% of all crashes on the hill.

For the professionals of the mountains, this years drop will be more of a positive than negative, “racers and ski teams will all be able to get their edges this year,” Says Ben. This years snow will be most definitely a plus for the people who hope to ski and snowboard this season.

For many this years winter is one to dread, yet many think of it as a blessing and a purpose to keep the culture and life of free ride. “It’s my personal therapy once i’m up there it’s about having a good time,” States Ben. This is what drives the culture and sport of free ride and what drives Ben and his followers who run our Regis Jesuit free ride club.

With some ski resorts opening as early as mid-October, and most closing at April or later, this year will be packed full of the sport so many call life. “I started riding at four, and it’s my main hobby,” Stated Ben. As this is the story for many others, and this season will be no different than one to remember.

Good article so far but title is irrelevant to story. Work on that and make edits to punctuation and spelling.
