College is supposed to be the best years of your life. College is the time when you can be on your own. A time to find yourself. A time to find your true identity.

For Regis grads, Taylor Kallsen ’15 and Nolan Ebel ’15, this is certainly true.

Both Kallsen and Ebel were leaders in the Regis Jesuit community. They were both involved in several clubs and played a large role on the varsity basketball team.

Kallsen chose to attend the College of Saint Benedict & Saint Johns University(SJU) in St. Joseph, Minnesota. He participates in several clubs and activities. At Regis Jesuit, he was involved in the ministries here on campus.

Kallsen looks for several ways to be involved with his strong beliefs.

“God has always been a huge part of my life and everything I do is for him.”

SJU has a variety of clubs that help Kallsen take part in this.

Kallsen said that he is involved in Magis Ministries, “Praise in the Pub”, Campus ministry, and is also a Eucharistic minister.

Kallsen is enjoying the college experience but finds some parts of it difficult.

“One of the hardest parts is defining my identity all by myself. You have the complete freedom to be whoever, and I think maintaining who I am and improving who I am as an individual has been tough, but it’s also been an amazing experience.”

Kallsen is currently undecided about what his major will be.

Like Kallsen, Ebel had a major leadership role at Regis Jesuit.

Ebel committed to play basketball at Augustana, located in Rock Island, Illinois.

Ebel is planning to double major in graphic design and religious studies.

Trying to get accustomed to balancing everything in college life, Ebel is taking it easy on the clubs this year and is planning on join more in the years to come.

Augustana has been one of the top Division III basketball programs in the nation the past several years. Training for the season takes up a lot of Ebel’s time.

Since Ebel has been at Augustana, he says that he feels comfortable.

“The hardest part is being so far away because sometimes after a rough week, it would be nice to go home for the weekend. But I love it here, so it hasn’t been bad at all.”

Both Kallsen and Ebel are doing their best to make the most out of their college experiences. They are both using everything that they’ve learned from Regis Jesuit to become leaders at their respective schools.
