A Softball Tradition: Catch for the Cure

Every year Regis Jesuit Varsity and Junior Varsity softball square off against Rock Canyon High School to help raise money in an effort to find a cure for Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer affects 1 in every 8 women alive today. During the week of the game the RJ Girls sell t-shirts and have a bake sale to help raise money.

This year, the fourth annual game was on October 10th. The Varsity girls lost 7 – 11 in a very close game and the JV team had a heartbreaking loss of 2 -14 against the opposing Rock Canyon JV. It was still a fun game though and Rhia Wallace ’16 says, “the team all has fun playing softball, but when we play for the cure it’s even better.”

From these two games, they raised over $5,000 which was donated to The Jill Lamb Foundation, a local organization based in Castle Rock that provides financial assistance to cancer patients and their families. You can check them out at http://www.jilllambfoundation.org/

This is an annual event so get excited for next October!
